Mobile phones are such a big part of our lives nowadays it may be unrealistic for most of us to consider stopping using them altogether. Although the research linking mobile phone usage to brain tumours is not yet conclusive, there is enough of it for us to sit up and listen. Yet we’re often all too happy to place these devices close to our brains as we chat away. Mobile phones emit a similar kind of low-level radio frequency to microwaves, which comes as no surprise to many of us. According to ES-UK, there are scientists now claiming it should be reclassified as class 2A (probable) or even class 1 (certain), with hundreds of studies linking it to conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, brain tumours, DNA damage and leukaemia. ![]() Since 2011, the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified powerline and radio frequency radiation as “class 2B possible carcinogens”.
